Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fly anywhere?

SkyHigh Studios are licensed & insured to operate anywhere in the UK FIR. This includes commercial, industrial, recreational & residential areas.

Can you fly at night?

Yes.

Can you fly indoors?

Yes.

Can you fly over water?

Yes.

How is a job costed?

There are 3 elements to any job. Pre-planning, filming, post-production. The cost will depend on the complexity. Complex environments (such as central London) may require more planning & flight crew than (say) photographing a windmill in Devon. We will always break the cost estimate down and offer the customer both a one stop shop & value for money.

Weather

Drones cannot fly in high wind, rain or extremes of temperature. For non time critical jobs (eg building surveys, stock footage) we will attend as soon as practical. For time critical jobs (eg wedding, performance, festival) we have handheld cameras (Zenmuse X5 / X5R) for cinematography and conventional SLR's for photography should the weather preclude aerial work. If booked we will always attend & supply 'Plan B' footage.

Can you map to CAD?

Yes. Our mapping software will supply input files suitable for your CAD programme. We also supply Google Earth overlays (kmz files) as well as the option for raw, jpg or dng photographs.

Can you map with LIDAR?

Yes. Very detailed mapping is possible but these (high cost) drones move quite slowly. Hence a more expensive option.
